Our School’s Vision
Enriching young minds to grow and develop into dynamic, caring and respected individuals of tomorrow.
Our Mission
To provide a stimulating school environment with engaging learning activities for young children in the progressive learning stage.
To be effective teachers for our young children, understanding their individual personalities and unique learning styles and adapting our coaching to meet their learning needs.
Our Logo
Ripples Montessori embraces the Montessori Approach to education. We named the school “Ripples” to remind ourselves that the children we educate today form tomorrow’s society. It would be great if each of our children grow up to be dynamic and caring individuals who create positive “ripples” in the society we live in.
The mind of a young child is nimble and totally capable of creatively and intelligently forming connections between people, objects, ideas, culture and environment if guided properly. At Ripples Montessori we hope to shape the young child’s growth and development with the right education methodology. With our nurturing and observant teachers we want to instill, reinforce and encourage positive learning attitudes and values to our children.
The letter R in our logo is expressed in a bold and flexible font as it represents the creative mind of young child who is curious and inquisitive. He has a spontaneous urge to learn and absorb images and languages from the world around him. At Ripples Montessori we can help to draw out the best possible in him.
Our chosen logo colours of red and yellow represent the natural independent spirit of the young child who has the potential to be someone dynamic, of high self-esteem yet warm and caring towards others. We want our students to grow into individuals that are socially competent to serve the society they are in.
Our School Philosophy
At Ripples Montessori we adopt Dr Maria Montessori educational philosophy and principles for early childhood education.
Dr Maria Montessori believed that the greatest and most intense intellectual and psychic development phase for a child is between the ages of zero to six years old. During this phase the child has an absorbent mind that absorbs, constructs and reconstructs imageries from his early experiences and his surrounding environment be it culture, customs, ideas, ideals, sentiments, feelings, and religion. Therefore a well prepared environment is important to the child’s early development.
We believe in the Montessori approach to young children’s progressive learning. Each young child needs to be guided as they progress through successive stages of development known as sensitive periods. During these sensitive periods the child has an insatiable hunger for the acquisition of particular knowledge and skills. Through these spontaneous impulses, the child learns to adjust and adapt to his environment. If such impulses are met with obstacles and these obstacles are not removed or if the child is prevented from acting on such impulses, the opportunity to learn and acquire knowledge will be lost forever.
The absorbent mind and its functioning, the sensitive periods of development, the importance of repetition, the need for a prepared environment, liberty leading to inner discipline, concentration, joy in work, social development are important principles of the Montessori Method. These principles are applied to the individual and not a class of children. It is during this early period of a young child that his future personality is determined. That is why Dr Maria Montessori refers the child as the father of the man to be.
At Ripples Montessori we aim to provide a right blend of creative fun and stimulating learning environment to aid the child through his early journey of discovery.
Our Teacher’s Role and Responsibilities
Our experienced teachers’ (we call them Directress) role is to observe each child and understand the individual child learning styles. If there is any obstacle to learning, they help to guide the child to overcome them.
Coaching Approach:
Children are born naturally curious and active, we respect their freedom and need to explore. We adjust for each child individual learning differences. They have the freedom to choose materials and objects to work with. We provide options rather than expect each child to carry out same activity with other children at the same time.
Our Directress are the role models for the children at our school, we encourage and reinforce positively the right values / behavior. We monitor each child behavior and encourage sharing and respect. We help our children to recognize negative behaviors and consciously correct them through positive motivation. |
